We provide annual $1,000 scholarships to undergraduate students in the United States to help them purchase textbooks and supplies.

To qualify for a $1,000 book scholarship you must:


  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Be a full-time (at least 12 credit hours per semester) undergraduate student at a four year college or university in the United States. Rising freshman are welcome to apply
  • Have at least one full academic year remaining in your program of study (at least 24 total credit hours remaining)

This has been an amazing journey so far.

It is a privilege to provide academic resources to college students across the country.  The goal of this organization is to have a positive impact on the lives of others, while partnering with passionate and dedicated philanthropists.  Every year we provide at least two $1000 book scholarships to undergraduate students at four year institutions in the United States.  Contact us today to discuss ways that you can help.

Applications

Applications are accepted via email from 

January 1 - April 21.  Instructions on "How to Apply" are provided below.

To apply, email the following 4 items as pdf files to LCarter@booksforcollege.orgApplications are only accepted from January 1 - April 21 of each year. All applications should be submitted electronically via email. Decisions are made by July 31 each year. You will be notified via email.

 

1. A cover letter that includes the following information: your full name, mailing address, email address, phone number, the name of your university, your classification, GPA, major, the number of credits that you have completed, and a description of your extra-curricular activities, honors and awards. If you are a rising freshman, please also include either your SAT or ACT scores. The SAT (or ACT) scores are only required for rising freshman. 

 

2. A 250 - 500 word essay that describes why you deserve this scholarship and how it will benefit you.

 

3. A copy of your resume.

 

4. One or two recommendation letters (on official letterhead).
